Local Governance Commission Availability List

The Local Governance Commission of New Brunswick (the Commission) is seeking to create a list of members of the Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick interested in potential future temporary appointments as auditors as part of the Commission’s mandate.

The Commission is a newly established arm’s length expert body created to review, assess, and make recommendations to the Minister of Environment and Local Government; and to rule on matters affecting the governance and administration of local governments and regional service commissions. The Commission became operational on May 15, 2024, pursuant to the Local Governance Commission Act (the Act).

The Commission’s mandate includes appointing auditors to conduct audits of local governments, local boards, and regional service commissions. The Act also mandates that the Commission may only appoint auditors who are members in good standing of the Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick.

All applicants must:

  • Be a member in good standing of the Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick; and
  • State their language capability, as some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English; others will require written and spoken competence in English only.

It is an asset for applicants to have experience auditing local governments and being familiar with Public Service Accounting Board standards.

Applications may be submitted by email or regular mail addressed to the Local Governance Commission. Applications should include sufficient detail to demonstrate qualifications, education, experience, linguistic proficiency in English and/or French, along with contact information (telephone number, civic address, and email address).

Please note, the Commission cannot guarantee any resulting volume of work by qualifying for this list; however, the Commission will endeavor to provide an equitable distribution of opportunities to all qualified applicants.
