About the opportunity

Are you a high-performing CPA who feels stuck in a glass-ceiling hierarchy? If you have mastered the complexities of public practice and are ready to transition from managing files to leading a firm, this is your opportunity.

We are a growing local professional services firm seeking a Senior Accountant with the technical prowess and business acumen to join our leadership team. This isn’t just a job; it’s a defined, two-year runway to a Partner position. We are a growing and highly respected professional services firm seeking a Senior Accountant who is ready to transition into leadership and eventual partnership. This is not simply another accounting position but it is a genuine succession and ownership opportunity for the right individual.

We are looking for someone who not only possesses strong technical expertise, but who also values community, long-term relationships, and the opportunity to build a career and life in New Brunswick.

We believe partnership should be earned through leadership, collaboration, and commitment, not simply years of tenure.

  • This role has been designed as a clear pathway toward partnership within approximately 24 months for the right candidate.
  • Year 1: Deep dive into our client portfolio, refining workflows, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Year 2: Transition into business development, client relationship ownership, and strategic firm management. Assume increasing involvement in firm management and decision making.
  • The Goal: Full Partnership status within 24 months, including equity participation and a seat at the decision-making table.

Key responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee the full cycle of public practice engagements:

  • Assurance & Compliance: Lead and review Compilation and Review Engagements for a diverse range of corporate clients.
  • Advanced Taxation: Oversee complex corporate and personal tax planning, reorganizations and estate planning, collaborating with external tax specialists and legal professionals as required.
  • Client Advisory: Act as a fractional CFO for key clients, providing insights on cash flow, growth strategies, and risk management.
  • Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of junior accountants, ensuring high-quality output and professional development.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify opportunities to leverage technology to streamline firm operations.

What you bring to the table

  • A valid CPA designation in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a public practice environment.
  • Solid understanding of ASPE and Canadian Income Tax legislation.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to lead and grow a business.
  • Advanced proficiency in CaseWare or Engagement, TaxPrep, and various other industry-specific software.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive package that reflects the seniority and potential of this role:

  • Salary: Competitive base (commensurate with experience) plus performance-based bonuses.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental coverage as well as a shared RRSP plan.
  • Professional Support: 100% coverage of CPA dues and CPD courses.
  • Work-Life Integration: Flexible hours.
  • Equity Path: A clear, documented roadmap to partnership and profit sharing.

Most importantly

We are seeking someone who is interested in building a long-term future in New Brunswick and becoming part of both the firm and the community.

Candidates with existing ties to Atlantic Canada or a demonstrated desire to establish permanent roots here are strongly encouraged to apply.

To apply

If you are ready to take the next step in your career and pursue a genuine partnership opportunity, we invite you to submit your resume and a brief cover letter to [email protected] outlining your interest in both the role and building a future in New Brunswick

Note: All applications will be handled with the strictest confidentiality. We understand the sensitivity of a partner-track move within the local accounting community.
