WorkSafeNB is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor. Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, you will deliver an effective and efficient risk based internal audit service that adds value and improves the operations of WorkSafeNB, with a focus on audits that address technology risks in business and technology processes. The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for implementing a set of assigned engagements from the internal audit annual workplan, that has been approved by the Board of Directors. This position is responsible for monitoring and assessing risks within the organization and determining the effectiveness of internal processes, procedures, or controls, that will measure impacts on the organization.

This role applies a systematic methodology in evaluating the effectiveness of risk management and control development.

Responsibilities

Your key areas of responsibility include: 

  • Conducting internal audits in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards and WorkSafeNB’s Internal Audit Manual;
  • Coordinating and conducting auditing engagements to identify risks and controls impacting reported information and business objectives, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations;
  • Evaluating and validating key technology processes, risks, and controls at the audit engagement level;
  • Conducting audits and special reviews including IT General Controls, IT Network and Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, Information Security, and IT Risk Management to enhance controls and efficiencies;
  • Summarizing audit results in comprehensive reports;
  • Managing audit follow-up processes, ensuring timely implementation of recommendations;
  • Developing professional relationships within the audit team, fostering collaboration across all business sectors.

Qualifications

You, as a successful candidate, possess:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Computer Science, or related field;
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or other equivalency such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) required;
  • Five years’ experience in audit or risk management functions, specifically in technology audit, IT governance risk and compliance, or related areas;
  • A combination of education and practical experience may be considered;
  • Strong foundation in information technology, demonstrating expertise in identifying risks and controls across various IT domains, such as cybersecurity, access controls, operations, and organizational change management;
  • Experience with internal audit software – Diligent would be considered as an asset.

Written and spoken competency in English is required.  

Additional details

Pay Scale: $84,269.81 to $99,140.95

Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.

Your primary workspace will be from your in-home office, with the occasional expectation of in person meetings, for that reason, working from outside the province, or country, is not permissible.
